Damodar-Lila-Madhuri

Author: Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja

This is an enchanting series of lectures on Lord Sri Krishna’s childhood pastimes when he appeared in India 5000 years ago. Srila Narayana Maharaja expertly describes the sweet and charming nature and activities of the Lord which exemplify the extreme love and affection that exists between Krishna and His eternal associates. All the while Srila Maharaja simultaneously illuminates the deep philosophical conclusions (siddhanta) and perennial Truths (tattva) present in these pastimes for the benefit of all.

The topics addressed include the birth of the immaculate scripture, Srimad Bhagavatam; the appearance of Lord Sri Krishna; Krishna’s early childhood pastimes and extraordinary character; the principal of Guru; Damodar-Lila; Lord Brahma stealing the calves; as well as Krishna and Balarama in Mathura.

Sri Camatkara-candrika: A Moonbeam of Complete Astonishment

Author: Srila Vishvanatha Cakravarti Thakura

This beautiful book comprises narrations of four of Sri Radha-Krsna’s enchanting pastimes. These stories are so charming that one can effortlessly become joyfully absorbed in them. By their very nature they allure the reader to relish the eternal sweetness of the transcendental realm. This Sri Camatkara-candrika is a translation of Srila Narayana Maharaja’s Hindi edition. Srila Maharaja’s work is not a direct translation of Srila Vishvanah Cakravarti Thakura’s Sanskrit verses, but a bhavanuvada, a translation by a rasika devotee that describes the inner transcendental sentiments expressed in the Sanskrit verses.

Sri Bhakti-Rasayana: The Nectar-Tonic of Pure Devotion

Author: Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja

In the final chapter of Sri Brhad-Bhagavatamrta, after the story of Gopa-kumara has been completed (see the book Going Beyond Vaikuntha), Sanatana Goswami has quoted verses from the tenth canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam which Pariksit Maharaja spoke to his mother Uttara. They are verses of very beautiful poetry which stimulate the sentiment of bhakti. Stringing these verses together, Sanatana Goswami has composed a necklace for the benefit of the sadhakas of this world, and when sadhakas keep these verses in their hearts, it is as if they are wearing this necklace around their necks. And if while chanting Krishna’s names they sometimes call out these verses, it will increase the bliss in their chanting. In this book, Srila Narayana Maharaja gives brilliant illuminations of this compilation of verses, which are known as bhakti-rasayana, or the nectar-tonic of bhakti-rasa.

Venu-Gita

Author: Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja

Venu-Gita is the beautiful commentary of Srila Narayana Maharaja on the 21st chapter of the 10th Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam, "The Song of Krishna's flute", which is spoken by the cowherd damsels of Vrindavan in their deep emotional turmoil upon hearing the sound of Sri Krishna's flute. The Srimad-Bhagavatam is the fully ripened, nectarian fruit of the desire tree of Vedic literature which comprises the entirety of Indian thought. Within Srimad-Bhagavatam, the ecstatic love of the gopis has been ascertained to be the ultimate objective. A few towering waves of gopi-prema can be seen from the Venu-gita portion of Srimad-Bhagavatam. Rasika bhaktas drown themselves in these waves and even lose all consciousness of their own bodies. Greed to be immersed in this nectarian ocean sprouts even in the hearts of the faithful devotees who are situated on the shore of this ocean.
